Déscription

As a lighthouse guides a ship caught in a raging storm, so does this volume illuminate the path for navigating life’s proverbial dark tunnel. This book suggests that radical faith glows in life’s dark vicissitudes. Tom Bodett once said, “The difference between school and life is this; in school you are taught a lesson and then given a test. In life you are given a test that teaches you a lesson.” According to this book, the dark storms of life are for our instruction, not destruction. Faith will guide better than sight. The darker the storm, the brighter faith glows.

From David L. Taylor, D. Min., Interim Dean, Faculty of Religion, Loma Linda University

This practical and profound treatise will definitely challenge the reader to view life differently, creatively, and from a renewed spiritual and clinical perspective concerning grief. It is a useful resource for pastors, individual families, small groups, bereavement groups, congregations, hospitals, hospice organizations, and even funeral parlors. In these pages Mike travels hand-in-hand with the hurting in the avenue of compassionate care, making himself vulnerable by sharing not only his personal journey but also the experiences of others that will greatly benefit the patients and professionals alike. Faith that Glows in the Dark helps to alleviate anguish by bringing spiritual encouragement to individuals and families experiencing grief in the wake of trauma and loss. As a pastor, counselor, and motivator, the author’s intuitive biblical reflections and practical experiential interactions skillfully present a fresh and effective approach at comforting those who hurt.
