Some churches select a worship committee to broaden the responsibility and content of their Sabbath morning worship experience. While it may not fit every church’s style or need, you may want to consider the advantages.

This is a sample of what one church used to get started. You will need to create guidelines to fit your specific needs.

Statement of Purpose

Because the (any town) Seventh-day Adventist Church is committed to providing quality worship experiences for its members and visitors alike, the worship committee exists to provide guidance for what happens during our public worship times. Its role is to examine the worship experience and make recommendations to the church board for ways that it can be strengthened and improved. In this context, the word "worship" is used to define events that occur on Sabbath mornings during the time when the church family is gathered for praise and hearing the spoken Word.

Functions of the Worship Committee

To gather input from the congregation of its worship preferences.
To develop a philosophy of worship for our church that incorporates a biblical perspective. 
To give study to ways that worship can be more inclusive for all. 
To seek out new musical talent and establish a music resource file. To create general worship guidelines that are acceptable for our Church.
To manage the funds in the worship account.
To oversee any matters that pertain to the overall worship experience. 

Worship Committee Members

The Worship Committee shall consist of not more than 6 members and shall include the following:

1. Worship coordinator
2. Choir director
3. Children's choir director
4. Pastoral representative
5. Drama director
6. An organist/pianist
