This essay poses concepts and questions for Adventists to consider when thinking about their relationship as a Christian to the greater community. In particular, should an Adventist serve in the military, in law enforcement agencies, or intelligence gathering? Is such service incompatible with Christian faith? Can it be acceptable? What criteria determines the answers? This essay does not purport to give all the answers, but it does try to stimulate some thought that may assist individuals in the decision-making process as they seek to determine God’s will for their lives.
